During the explorations in Gdańsk Bay, researchers discovered a 200-year-old stoneware seltzer bottle. The well-preserved and sealed bottle contains a 14-percent alcohol distillate.
The bottle has brand name “Selters” engraved on it. Selters is a supplier of high-quality carbonated water from the Taunus Mountains area in Germany. It’s one of the oldest types of mineral waters in Europe and now it is sold as a luxury product.
Destpite the springs of Selters dried at the beginning of 19th century, a group of Selters residents found another well in an area near local castle.
Despite the shape and the material of bottles has changed from stoneware to glass, Selters water quality is believed as the originally discovered.
